REEF : Series
My first post-graduation body of work, the “REEF” collection is composed of six unique ceramic pieces that explore the intersection of form and function. The series transforms the modern-era inspired ceramic vessel, pushing the boundaries of traditional form while maintaining functionality.
The inspiration for "Reef" is drawn from the fluidity inherent in glass artistry and the diverse ecosystems found within coral reefs. This fusion results in a collection with a distinct oceanic and playful quality. A core technical challenge of the series lies in the application of numerous spikes that appear to puncture the vessel's surface. These elements function conceptually as defensive organisms protecting the contents, while visually creating a sense of movement, as if reacting to an ocean current.
